    Commonwealth Technology Inc. (CTI) founded by three mechanical engineers to support unique mission solutions for the Intelligence Community

  • 1992

    CTI acquires Virginia Instruments for in-house electronics design, fabrication, and testing


  • 2006

    CTI opens the Integrated Technology Center (ITC) in Sterling, VA for extended manufacturing, finishing, and composites capability

  • 2010

    CTI acquires QED – RF and special communications


  • 2012

    CTI acquires Black Oak Technology – Software Engineering

  • 2014

    MacAulay-Brown Inc. (MacB) acquires CTI for rapid prototyping and specialized solutions capabilities


  • 2018

    Alion Science and Technology Corporation acquires MacB. CTI remains a wholly-owned subsidiary with a new name: Commonwealth Technology Innovation

  • 2021

    CTI doubles System Integration Lab facilities footprint at Alexandria Headquarters
